Rolwaling Trekking
The Rolwaling Valley is located eastern of Kathmandu at the foot of Mt. Gauri Shankar (7145 MASL), southern the Tibetan border. The route starts in Barhabise, a small trade village in Sindupalchowk and leads you up along the Tama Koshi River. There you have a great view on the Mt. Melungtse (7181 MASL). You will see the Mt. Dorje Lakpa and Mt. Tashi Lapcha as you have reached the village Beding (3690 MASL). After 2 days of rocky glacier hiking you will reach the Tashi Lapcha pass (5755 MASL). You will cross the pass and hike down to the village Thame, the home of Tenzing Norgay in the Khumbu Valley. The Rowaling trekking is one of the most exhausting and most difficult trekkings in Nepal and requires technical climbing knowledge.

4. Day Drive to Jagat (2050 MASL)
In the morning the whole crew comes with an own bus to pick you up at your hotel. The bus will be packed with the whole equipment, your luggage and the food for the whole trekking. Afterwards everyone will be driven to Jagat, about 150 km to the east. In the evening you will be there and the crew will put up the tents on a campsite.5. Day Jagat – Simigaun (2050 MASL)
You will hike up through terraced land and pine forest. The village Simigaun is a nice village on a hill, the name means: village of the beans. On your way you will have the possibility to see the holly mountain Gauri – Shankar (7134 MASL).6. Day Simigaun – Dongyang (2900 MASL)
Today you will hike through rhododendron and bamboo forest to Dongyang (2900 MASL). It is located in the middle of the forest.7. Day Dongyang – Beding (3650 MASL)
Today’s hike leads you to Beding, a high alpine village. The inhabitants of the village belong to the ethnical group of the Sherpas. The valley lies very nice, far on every side you can see high mountains.8. Day Beding – Na (4100 MASL)
Today’s shorter hike leads to Na. Na as well is a Sherpa village with a view on the mount Chechigo, Babango and others.9. Day Na (4100 MASL) / Acclimatization day
The day today is for acclimatization. After a late breakfast you will do a trip with your guide and in the afternoon you will be back at your camp.10. Day Na – Camp I right Lakeside (4550 MASL)
The hike continues in the direction of the Tso – Rolpa Glacier Lake. This is the biggest glacier lake of the region. Today you will spend the night on the right side of the lake beside a great rock.11. Day Camp I – Camp II (4800 MASL)
Today you will hike to the Trakarding Glacier (4800 MASL). The route is difficult. A small part of the rock (approx. 50 m) you have to climb with a rope. The crew will look for a flat camping possibility and will put up the tents there. In the night you will hear the sounds of the glacier movement.12. Day Camp II – Tashi Lapcha Base Camp (5200 MASL)
Early in the morning the hike starts to the Tashi Lapcha base camp; since the ice gets unstable and difficult to walk on by noon. After arriving in the camp you can do a trip to the glacier world.13. Day Tashi Lapcha Base Camp – Camp (5700 MASL)
Today the day starts early again. If you are in the first group you will have to rappel from time to time. After approx. 3 hours you will reach the Tashi – Lapcha pass (5755 MASL). The view from there is fantastic. Approx. 50 meters underneath on the left side of the valley the crew will set up the camp. It is located underneath a big rock face. Due to that you will be protected of the constant falling rocks. From your camp you will see on the opposite side on of the well-known trekking peak the Pharchamo (6273 MASL). If you would like to scale this peak it can be combined with this trekking as well. It needs another day and heightens the price.14. Day Camp – Thanpo (4320 MASL)
If you do not scale the peak you will hike together with the whole crew downwards through steep rock. As you go along the path gets flatter and leads to the village Thanpo.15. Day Thanpo – Thame (3900 MASL)
The hike continues further slowly down to Thame. In Thame you will be back in the civilization. Today we reach the Khumbu region. Many Tibetan traders come across the Nagpala pass. The goods are brought by Yaks to the market in Namche or Lukla. Shortly before the camp, above the village, is a well-known monastery.16. Day Thame – Namche Bazar (3434 MASL)
After a late breakfast you will continue the hike to Namche Bazar. The mountain village Namche Bazar is the trade center of the region. It is also said that Namche is the gate to the Mt. Everest. Here are hotels, restaurants, bars, bakeries, currency change offices and shops. It is also possible to use a telephone or the internet.17. Day Namche Bazar – Lukla (2850 MASL)
Today you will hike down the Khumbu valley via the Hillary Bridge, Manjo and Phakding to Lukla. On your way you will cross path with many tourists who start or end their trekking in Lukla.18. Day Flight to Kathmandu
A spectacular flight will bring you back to Kathmandu. After the arrival you will be transferred to your hotel and you will have the rest of the day at your own disposal.19. a Day in Kathmandu
